Gardening With Alliums

Spring flowering bulbs will arrive soon at the Garden Center and fall is the best time to plant. Allium are a unique & very hardy Spring flowering bulb that add interest & color to the garden.  Plant allium bulbs among existing perennials and shrubs this fall to give a pop of color from mid-spring to early summer. Allium are noted for their deer resistance.  After flowering the spent allium flower heads can be cut & dried. There are many uses for the dried flower heads, try spray painting them & add them to a Christmas tree, use them in outdoor holiday container arrangements, or arrange them in a vase.
